The City of St. Albert is pleased to welcome a delegation of Taiwanese business leaders to the community on October 16. The delegation identified St. Albert as a growing Smart City innovation cluster and wants to learn about local Smart City approaches and to meet with regional technology organizations.
The delegation is associated with the Committee of Communications Industry Development (CoCID) under the Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs. Seven delegates are expected, primarily representing the Taiwanese technology and public sectors.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the Taiwanese delegation to St. Albert, and to showcase our wonderful community,” said St. Albert Councillor Cathy Heron. “It is especially gratifying that we were identified as a city committed to innovation and the ‘Smart’ application of new technologies for public benefit – we look forward to continuing to collaborate with others locally, provincially, nationally and now internationally.” In addition to meeting with St. Albert elected and senior administrative officials, the delegation will engage in a mini trade show with regional business leaders, business accelerators and provincial government officials.
The visit complements St. Albert’s upcoming participation in the Alberta Smart City Alliance’s planned delegation to the Smart City Expo and Global Congress, in Barcelona, Spain. As part of the Alliance’s itinerary, City officials have taken the opportunity to schedule numerous site tours and meetings with industry leaders, during which they will discuss potential investment in St. Albert. Hosting the Taiwanese delegation in St. Albert will support this effort by improving St. Albert’s international reputation.
