Smart Cities Workshop - Banff
November 7, 2017
9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Event Overview
Smart cities are places where information technology is combined with buildings, infrastructure, everyday objects, and citizens to address social, economic, and environmental problems. But where do we start? What can be the first smart city pilot with concrete return of investment? Smart cities need smart citizens. How to engage citizens to be part of the smart city revolution?
Internet of Things and smart city technologies have a complex value chain and ecosystem. How can cities reduce the risks of betting on a technology or platform that will become obsolete tomorrow? On November 7th 2017, smart cities experts and practitioners from municipalities, universities and industry will meet at the Smart Cities Banff Workshop to discuss the above critical questions. We will have:
- Two exciting keynotes
- Two panel discussions and plenty discussions
- One hour Make-Your-Own-Sensor session for participants to assemble their own sensors and code their first smart city APP
Workshop participants can choose to bring a smart city air quality sensor home for the cost of the hardware. Come join us on November 7th at the beautiful Banff Centre. Let's learn, discuss and brainstorm how can we make our city a better place to live.
